About the position

The Front Desk Receptionist at Anne Arundel Dermatology plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of the practice while providing exceptional service to patients. This position involves managing patient interactions, coordinating appointments, handling billing and insurance inquiries, and maintaining accurate patient records. The receptionist is the first point of contact for patients, making their experience welcoming and professional.

Responsibilities

  • Greet each patient in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Screen calls, schedule appointments, and manage referrals.
  • Take accurate and concise phone messages.
  • Enter complete patient demographics when making appointments.
  • Evaluate chart data to verify all information has been received, completed, and signed.
  • Check-in and check-out patients efficiently.
  • Track patients in the reception area and communicate with them as needed.
  • Proactively collect patient payments and assist with billing inquiries.
  • Update product inventory weekly and fulfill inventory orders.
  • Run end-of-day reports and balance payment totals as the closer.
  • Distribute incoming reports and correspondence in patient charts.
  • Ensure all phone messages, faxes, and interdepartmental mail are addressed immediately.
  • Assist other staff as needed and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED (required).
  • 1-3 years recent experience as a Medical Receptionist in a clinical or surgical setting (preferred).
  • Previous experience in Dermatology (preferred).
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Detail-oriented with working knowledge of multi-line phone systems.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment (i.e. computer, fax, copier, scanner, etc).
  • Intermediate computer skills and experience in EMR utilization.
  • Fluent in English.

  • Experience in a dermatology setting.
