The applicant must have an extraordinary passion for professional success and a willingness and ability to learn new complex tasks that are assigned over time. He or she should be highly intelligent, reliable, and possess excellent communication and data entry/computer skills. The ideal candidate should want to make all those around him or her better by teaching and supporting others. Among his or her duties, the employee will be asked to answer telephone inquiries, greet patients into the office, check them out of the office, make appointments and notes using a computerized practice management program, collect co-pays and balances at the front desk, verify the activity of patient insurance, seek prior authorizations for procedures and medications, enter demographic and other patient information into the electronic medical record, scan documents into the computer system, and fill in for medical assistants. We expect to assign additional responsibilities to the exceptional candidate we hire. We also expect the candidate to have the creative abilities and initiative to improve our practices over time.

Responsibilities

  • Answer telephone inquiries and provide information to patients.
  • Greet patients as they enter the office and assist them with check-in and check-out processes.
  • Make appointments and maintain accurate notes using a computerized practice management program.
  • Collect co-pays and outstanding balances at the front desk.
  • Verify patient insurance activity and seek prior authorizations for procedures and medications.
  • Enter demographic and other patient information into the electronic medical record system.
  • Scan documents into the computer system for record-keeping.
  • Fill in for medical assistants as needed and assist with other administrative tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in data entry and computer skills.
  • Ability to learn new complex tasks over time.
  • Reliability and a strong work ethic.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a medical office setting.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
