About the position

The Front Desk Receptionist/Insurance Verification position at Pulse Physician Organization is a full-time role based in Katy, TX, primarily focused on providing exceptional patient care and administrative support within a medical office setting. The individual in this role will be responsible for greeting patients, verifying insurance information, and ensuring a smooth check-in process. This position requires a strong background in insurance verification and patient interaction, particularly in a fast-paced medical environment. Experience in cardiology is considered a plus, as the role may involve working closely with patients undergoing cardiac assessments. Under the direction of healthcare providers, the Medical Assistant will deliver patient care that promotes safety and well-being. This includes performing vital sign assessments, administering medications, and conducting routine tests such as EKGs. The role also involves scheduling diagnostic tests, communicating results to patients, and maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment. The Medical Assistant will document patient care plans and escalate any non-routine issues to the practice manager or healthcare providers as necessary. The position emphasizes the importance of patient safety and privacy, adhering to established protocols and quality controls. The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or GED, along with 2-3 years of experience in a medical office or clinic. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is preferred, and familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and Microsoft Windows is essential. The role operates on a Monday to Friday schedule, with no weekend shifts, allowing for a balanced work-life environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general patient care by following established standards and procedures.
  • Greet and prepare patients for the health care provider.
  • Obtain and record vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug allergies, and current medications.
  • Administer ordered medications and/or vaccines via various methods as directed.
  • Perform routine tests including EKGs as needed.
  • Schedule patients for diagnostic testing and follow up to ensure completion of testing.
  • Communicate with patients regarding test results and plan of care as directed by the physician.
  • Prepare, clean, and sterilize instruments and maintain equipment; keep patient exam rooms stocked, clean, and orderly.
  • Document patient plans of care, tests, and examination results in the medical record as directed by the provider.
  • Escalate non-routine issues, questions, and/or concerns to the practice manager or healthcare provider(s).
  • Ensure safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required.
  • Provide for patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by practice manager, MA Lead, or as requested by healthcare provider(s).

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a fast-paced medical office/clinic.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (preferred).
  • Experience with EMR (electronic medical records).
  • Proficiency in Operating Systems (Windows) and Microsoft applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in cardiology is a plus.
  • 3 years of customer service experience (preferred).
  • 3 years of medical terminology experience (preferred).
  • 3 years of insurance verification experience (preferred).
