About the position

The Medical Office Receptionist at Traverse Health is a vital role within an integrative chiropractic practice focused on back and neck pain and overall wellness. This position requires a reliable individual who can provide exceptional service to patients, manage reception and checkout operations, and assist healthcare staff in various tasks. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a cheerful demeanor, and the ability to work effectively within a growing healthcare team.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure examination rooms are ready for patients by keeping them well-stocked and at a comfortable temperature, and ensuring all equipment is sterilized.
  • Prepare insurance forms, noting patient symptoms, diagnoses, test results, treatment instructions, and prescriptions in patient records.
  • Assist healthcare staff in rooming patients.
  • Greet patients, handle telephone calls, schedule appointments, and answer inquiries regarding treatment or prescription refills to ensure a great patient experience.
  • Record patient personal information and medical history to share with healthcare staff.
  • Take patients' vital signs including pulse, body temperature, respiration rate, and blood pressure, and record them in their chart.
  • Perform re-activation and follow-up calls to leads, demonstrating proficiency in this area.
  • Interact on social media with the clinic's page and articles as part of marketing efforts.
  • Learn and demonstrate physical therapy modalities such as e-stim, ultrasound, deep tissue laser massage, heat/ice therapy, mobility training, and kinesiotaping.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Prior experience in a medical assisting role performing administrative duties or similar position in a healthcare environment is preferred, but training is available for the right candidate.
  • Ability to use a computer to complete administrative tasks.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
