About the position

The Front Desk Receptionist in Radiation Oncology at UC San Diego is responsible for providing clerical support to ensure efficient daily patient services. This role involves managing clinic calls, greeting patients, overseeing registration and insurance verification, and scheduling appointments. The receptionist serves as a liaison between patients and healthcare staff, ensuring excellent customer service and accurate communication.

Responsibilities

• Answer all clinic calls using UCSD Experience guidelines and follow telephone protocols.
• Triage calls and transfer to appropriate staff members.
• Greet arriving patients for their appointments and provide excellent customer service.
• Oversee all aspects of patient registration and insurance verification.
• Collect co-payments and make daily deposits.
• Schedule appointments accurately and confirm patient appointments with detailed directions.
• Serve as a liaison for physicians, nurses, and other Radiation Oncology staff.
• Utilize multiple computer systems simultaneously to manage patient information and appointments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Three (3) years of previous related experience in a large complex healthcare setting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Superb customer service skills.
• Proficient in typing and creating well-organized emails.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working with the medical center's various computer programs, including PCIS, EPIC, IDX, RIS.
• Experience working in Radiation Oncology, Oncology, or any cancer-related clinic setting.
• One year of experience in patient registration.
• Fluent in English and Spanish.
