Accurate maintenance of patient accounts is essential, which includes obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information. The role also involves reviewing insurance benefits with patients, collecting copays, and verifying patient insurance eligibility while obtaining prior authorization when necessary. The receptionist will maintain business office inventory and equipment, ensuring that supplies are adequately stocked and anticipating future needs. Responsibilities

  • Warmly welcome patients and visitors in person or on the telephone.
  • Assist patients in completing all necessary forms and documentation.
  • Keep patient appointments on schedule by moving through the appointment process.
  • Comfort patients by anticipating anxieties and concerns, such as communicating wait times.
  • Politely answer patient questions whether in person or over the phone.
  • Transfer calls as required.
  • Preserve the reception area in a clean and neat state.
  • Accurately maintain patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
  • Review insurance benefits with patients and collect copays/coinsurance/deductible responsibilities.
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility and obtain prior authorization as needed.
  • Maintain business office inventory and equipment by checking stock to determine inventory level and anticipating needed supplies.
  • Protect patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal, and financial information.
  • Maintain operations by following policies and procedures.
  • Consistently create a positive work environment by being team-oriented and patient focused.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Medical Receptionist role, required.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA regulations, ICD and CPT coding.
  • Bilingual speaker (Spanish and English) is a plus!
  • Innovative thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to multi-task.
  • Strong organizational, administrative and planning skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to use discretion while working with sensitive information.
  • Excellent documentation, communication and IT skills.
