About the position

Axis Community Health is seeking a Front Desk Receptionist to join our team. This role is essential in providing quality, affordable, and accessible healthcare services to our community. The Front Desk Receptionist will be responsible for greeting patients and visitors, managing patient registrations, and providing clerical support to ensure smooth operations within the clinic. The position requires excellent customer service skills, the ability to work under pressure, and effective communication abilities, particularly in both English and Spanish. The role involves working rotating evenings and Saturdays, contributing to a dynamic and supportive healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and agency visitors; direct all individuals to the appropriate location and services.
  • Maintain privacy and dignity of agency clients; assure client confidentiality at all times per HIPAA regulations.
  • Register patients according to agency protocols and schedule appointments according to established procedures.
  • Determine financial status of patients and their eligibility for Axis Community Health services.
  • Assist patients in accurately completing appropriate forms, and document all information according to Axis Community Health protocols.
  • Provide clerical support for the assigned department/provider, including preparing patient records for visits.
  • Maintain the assigned department and ensure that all equipment is in working order and that the area is clean and well-maintained.
  • Participate in staff meetings and trainings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of experience as a receptionist in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Computer skills to include Microsoft Word and Excel, 35 WPM.
  • Ability to interact effectively and in a supportive manner with persons of all backgrounds.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of patient billing procedures and insurance verification.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; English/Spanish bilingual required.
