About the position
The Front-End Clerk at Sendiks Fine Foods Inc. is responsible for performing customer checkout transactions, assisting customers with bagging groceries, and ensuring a positive shopping environment. The role emphasizes customer service, efficient processing of orders, and maintaining a clean and organized front-end area.
Responsibilities
- Process customers' orders accurately and efficiently.
- Greet customers and inquire if they found everything they were looking for.
- Scan items and ensure proper identification by the register system.
- Handle customer inquiries and assist with product location.
- Collect and transport shopping carts safely to the designated area.
- Bag groceries properly and offer carry-out service to customers.
- Maintain a neat and organized cash register till.
- Count and verify cash at the end of the shift.
- Follow front-end security procedures and report any theft or shoplifting incidents.
- Perform miscellaneous cleaning and maintenance duties in the front-end area.
Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to push and pull up to 100 lbs.
- Basic writing and math skills.
- Ability to operate a cash register and scanner.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in customer service or retail environment.
- Familiarity with PLU codes and cash handling procedures.
