About the position

The Front End Department Supervisor at Lowe's is responsible for leading a team of associates to ensure a superior customer experience in the store. This role involves coaching and training staff, managing performance, and overseeing daily operations at the front end of the store. The supervisor collaborates with other department supervisors and assistant store managers to meet service, operations, and safety objectives, while also ensuring the store is clean, safe, and well-stocked. The position may require occasional store opening or closing duties and involves conducting safety walks and training staff on safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and enable a team of associates to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Coach and train associates on store operations and safety protocols.
  • Monitor and manage performance of front-end associates.
  • Collaborate with other department supervisors and assistant store managers.
  • Conduct safety walks and report hazards in the store.
  • Ensure adequate department coverage and stock levels.
  • Open or close the store as needed and serve as manager-on-duty (MOD).
  • Communicate upward to management regarding concerns and morale.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years of experience in a retail environment or 5 years of experience in a retail environment.
  • Experience providing direction or supervision to teams.
  • Experience in training, mentoring, and developing associates.
  • Experience working cross-functionally.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to obtain sales-related licensure as required by law.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in front-end or back-end operations in a retail environment.
  • Experience in a customer service role.
  • Leadership experience with direct report responsibility.
  • Experience in the home improvement retail sector.
