About the position

The Front-End UX Developer at NAMI will be responsible for enhancing the user experience and interface of the organization's core Laravel-based business application. This role involves creating responsive and accessible designs using modern front-end technologies, ensuring the platform is optimized for diverse users. The position supports the Cross-Cultural Innovation and Engagement team and emphasizes usability testing and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop front-end features for the core business application using Laravel, Tailwind, Flex components, and modern web technologies.
  • Ensure accessibility and usability across different user groups, integrating best practices into the UI/UX.
  • Implement responsive designs using HTML, CSS (including preprocessors like SASS), and JavaScript.
  • Collaborate on usability testing and incorporate user feedback to continuously improve the user experience.
  • Use data visualization libraries to create intuitive, user-friendly data displays.
  • Debug and troubleshoot front-end issues, ensuring high performance and functionality.
  • Work independently as well as with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and deadlines.
  • Ensure version control using Git or other systems to manage changes and collaboration.
  • Participate in discussions and reviews to enhance the overall user experience and design quality of the platform.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong proficiency in front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and preprocessors like SASS or LESS.
  • Experience working with Laravel and Tailwind frameworks.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and the ability to design inclusive interfaces for diverse user needs.
  • Familiarity with data visualization libraries and techniques.
  • Excellent debugging skills and the ability to identify and resolve front-end issues.
  • Experience with Git or other version control systems.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a remote-first work environment.
  • Ability to work independently while also thriving in a team-oriented atmosphere.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality, user-centered work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies and usability testing.
  • Experience working on grant-funded projects or within non-profit or mission-driven environments.
