About the position

The Front-End Developer at the Surplus Lines Stamping Office of Texas (SLTX) is a vital member of the Development team, responsible for designing, developing, and implementing enterprise software solutions tailored to project needs. This role emphasizes front-end development while also engaging in other development areas as necessary. The developer will collaborate closely with operations and other development teams to ensure timely task completion and adherence to established practices and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and optimize application features.
  • Recommend appropriate tools, technologies, and processes for development of scalable software solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal and external development teams to plan, design, develop, test, and maintain SLTX's front-end web/desktop-based software application.
  • Assist in development and documentation of front-end user's requirements, stories, and estimate time.
  • Work independently or with input on new features, bugs, and enhancements.
  • Participate in peer-reviews of solutions designs and related code.
  • Display excellent communication and written skills.
  • Create and complete application development by coordinating requirements, schedules, and activities.
  • Collaborate in team meetings, troubleshooting development, assessing and correcting production problems across multiple environments and operating platforms.
  • Remain motivated to learn and grow, keeping well-informed of the latest technologies and best practices as well as industry trends and technologies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or software engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • Three to four years of Front End Development related experience.
  • Ability to apply advanced logical and technical concepts to identify and resolve problems.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and articulate to all levels of internal and external personnel in both verbal and written forms.
  • Advanced/Expert knowledge of Docker, C#, JavaScript, React and Redux, TypeScript, and Agile Methodology/Concepts.
  • Required to fulfill core business hours requirement.

Nice-to-haves

  • One to three years' experience related to the Surplus Lines Industry and/or regulatory field of insurance.
  • Experience writing queries in MySQL and SQL Server or other Relational Databases.
  • Knowledge of the Texas Administrative Code (TAC) and knowledge of the Texas Insurance Code (TIC).
  • Advanced knowledge or working knowledge of Microsoft Azure Services, Atlassian Suite (Confluence, Jira, etc.), ASP.Net Core, Windows Server, PHP - Website automation, and WordPress.
