As a Front-End Driver at GFL, you will be responsible for operating front-end trucks that provide essential waste and recycling services to a variety of multi-family residential and commercial routes. This role involves servicing multiple customers each day according to assigned routes, ensuring that waste is efficiently collected and transported to the appropriate station, landfill, or drop-off location. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of customer sites while adhering to all relevant regulations and company policies. Your daily tasks will include driving commercial frontload or ancillary equipment along designated routes to mechanically collect solid waste. You will be required to open container enclosures or gates to access cans and, as needed, roll 3-4-yard cans into position for dumping. Performing daily pre- and post-trip inspections is essential, and you will need to complete and submit a vehicle condition report at the end of each shift. Interacting courteously with customers and the general public along your route is vital, as you will be expected to answer questions and respond to requests, notifying your supervisor of any issues that require management action. In addition to driving, you will be responsible for cleaning loose trash off the truck and the surrounding area to maintain a clean customer site and ensure safety along roads and highways. You will also maintain and submit a DOT logbook, daily route/productivity sheet, and vehicle condition report as required by law or company policy. Maneuvering the truck into and out of minimum clearance spaces using mirrors and GPS for locating service addresses will be part of your daily routine. Safety is paramount, and you will need to follow safe operating practices, including lockout/tagout procedures, to ensure the proper operation of the truck. Monitoring operations to detect loose debris and adhering to all DOT, OSHA, FMCSA, and EPA regulations and standards are also critical aspects of this position. Other job-related duties may be assigned as necessary.
