Waste Management and Remediation Services

About the position

Front-End Drivers at GFL Environmental are responsible for operating front-end trucks that service a variety of multi-family residential and commercial routes, focusing on the removal and transportation of waste or recyclables in accordance with customer contracts. This role requires the driver to service multiple customers each day, following assigned routes to ensure efficient waste collection. The waste collected must then be transferred to the appropriate station, landfill, or drop-off location, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. The position involves driving commercial frontload or ancillary equipment along designated routes to mechanically collect solid waste and transport it to post-collection facilities. Drivers must open container enclosures or gates to access cans and, as needed, roll 3-4-yard cans into position for dumping. Daily pre- and post-trip inspections are mandatory, and drivers must complete and submit a vehicle condition report at the end of each shift. Interacting courteously with customers and the general public is essential, as drivers are expected to answer questions and respond to requests while notifying supervisors of any issues requiring management action. Maintaining a clean customer site and ensuring safety along roads and highways is a critical aspect of the job. This includes cleaning loose trash off the truck and the surrounding area after dumping. Drivers are required to maintain and submit a DOT logbook, daily route/productivity sheet, and vehicle condition report as mandated by law or company policy. The role also requires maneuvering the truck into and out of minimum clearance spaces, utilizing mirrors for backing up, and using a key map and GPS to locate service addresses. Adherence to all DOT, OSHA, FMCSA, and EPA regulations is crucial, and drivers may be assigned other job-related duties as needed.
