About the position

Aleut Federal is seeking a Front-End Developer with expertise in Drupal to join our Technology Services Group. This position is fully remote and offers a competitive salary of approximately $130,000, depending on experience. As a Front-End Developer, you will play a crucial role in developing accessible and well-designed front-end user interfaces for federal government websites. You will collaborate with an integrated design and development team to redesign and develop existing websites, translating interface designs and process flows into standards-based and accessible code. Your contributions will directly support our mission of providing excellent service and quality results to our clients, which include various branches of the federal government. In this role, you will be responsible for collaborating with clients, design, and development teams to provide guidance on front-end theming. You will develop the front-end user interface and integrate it into the pattern library. Conducting code peer reviews and collaborating with back-end developers and testers will be essential to ensure the quality and functionality of the code. You will also determine requirements, create user stories, estimate levels of effort, and keep tickets updated in Jira, actively participating in all scrum ceremonies. Testing, merging, and committing code will be part of your daily tasks, along with participating in client meetings to discuss user stories and recommend solutions. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with and provide guidance to clients, design, and development teams on front-end theming.
  • Develop the front-end user interface and integrate it into the pattern library.
  • Conduct code peer reviews and collaborate with back-end developers and testers.
  • Determine requirements, create user stories, estimate levels-of-effort, and keep tickets updated in Jira, participating with the team in all scrum ceremonies.
  • Test, merge, and commit code.
  • Participate in client meetings, as needed, coming prepared to speak to your user stories, explain solutions in plain language, and make recommendations on approach.
  • Create documents and update as needed on development processes, methodology, technical specifications for each site being worked on.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of experience developing modern front-end interfaces for Drupal CMS websites.
  • Proficiency in web markup including HTML5 and CSS3.
  • Client-side scripting experience such as jQuery.
  • Experience with JavaScript libraries and frameworks.
  • Experience creating interfaces for integration with theming for Drupal CMS front-end.
  • Advanced understanding of JavaScript frameworks like Angular, Vue.js, and SASS tools like Bourbon.
  • Experience with front-end frameworks such as React, Bootstrap, Angular, or Vue.js.
  • Back-end knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server / T-SQL.
  • Expertise integrating pattern libraries.

Nice-to-haves

  • Excitement about UI technology trends as they relate to digital platforms (Material Design, iOS, Responsive web).
  • Experience working as part of an Agile cross-functional team.
  • Full-stack developer skills are a bonus!
  • Expertise using GIT, Sublime Text, Jira.
