About the position
The Front End Lead (FEL) at BJ's Wholesale Club is responsible for overseeing frontline operations in the absence of the Front End Manager. This role focuses on coaching, teaching, and developing team members to ensure excellent member service and the successful execution of membership programs. The FEL monitors performance metrics, drives member engagement, and ensures compliance with operational standards while providing a positive shopping experience for members.
Responsibilities
- Supervises the front line including cashiers, self-checkout, and membership desk in the absence of the Front End Manager.
- Models and provides excellent member service while coaching team members to do the same.
- Drives membership metrics through acquisition, retention, loyalty, and experience programs.
- Trains, coaches, motivates, and recognizes frontline team members on their tasks and responsibilities.
- Utilizes performance metrics reports to drive performance and member engagement.
- Acts with urgency to assist members in a timely manner and resolves escalated service issues.
- Manages self-checkout lanes and assists members with technical difficulties.
- Collects payments and issues receipts, refunds, or change due to members.
- Maintains cleanliness of member servicing areas and ensures compliance with club policies.
Requirements
- Prior leadership experience preferred.
- Prior membership or sales knowledge and experience preferred.
- Prior cashier experience preferred.
- Basic math skills required.
