About the position

The Payments Engineering team at Chewy is looking for a Front End Software Engineer III to enhance the payment experience for pet parents and partners. This role focuses on building a secure and efficient payment ecosystem that is adaptable to business changes and regulatory requirements. The position offers opportunities for collaboration with skilled engineering teams and professional growth within a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and implement large scale distributed systems focusing on scalability, latency and fault tolerance.
  • Architect, build, deploy and scale front end Payments Single Page Applications.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and solutions to team and customers, acting as the technical point of contact.
  • Build Systems / Component architectures and APIs for a rapidly scaling platform, ensuring successful product delivery and operational quality.
  • Lead platform level initiatives such as Kubernetes migration and building CI/CD pipelines.
  • Own and operationalize critical metrics for Payments, building telemetry/logging for application health.
  • Lead research and initiatives for cloud native designs and implementation within AWS.
  • Influence coding standards and ensure high-quality code reviews.
  • Mentor and guide peers and junior engineers.
  • Establish strong working relationships across organizational levels and functional teams.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of professional front-end development experience.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience crafting scalable, high-performing applications for large enterprises.
  • 5+ years of experience building large-scale products using React/JavaScript/ES6/Typescript/CSS.
  • 3+ years of software engineering experience with Java or other Object-Oriented Programming languages.
  • 3+ years of experience in the Payments domain, understanding payment processing and wallet management.
  • Hands-on experience building micro-services and working in a public cloud environment (AWS).
  • Expertise in measuring and tuning application performance.
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices for the SDLC.

  • Experience in e-commerce or Healthcare.
  • Experience with accessibility testing.
  • Experience in ReactJS, VueJS, or AngularJS.
  • Experience with Selenium, Cypress, or similar automated testing tools.
  • Experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms.
  • Experience developing CI/CD pipelines in Jenkins or similar tools.
