About the position

At Five Below, the Front End Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring that the store delivers an exceptional customer experience. This position is centered around the core purpose of the company, which is to create a fun and engaging shopping environment. The Front End Supervisor is responsible for leading the front-end operations of the store, which includes training the staff on the B.E.S.T. customer service experience, ensuring that every customer interaction is fast and friendly. The supervisor will work closely with associates and managers to maintain high customer service scores as set by the District Manager. In addition to customer service, the Front End Supervisor is tasked with overseeing front-end merchandising, ensuring that products such as candy, soda, and snacks are displayed according to brand standards. This includes managing the candy ordering process to maintain appropriate inventory levels. The supervisor is also responsible for the store's opening and closing procedures, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring that the store is always ready for customers. In the absence of the store manager, the Front End Supervisor will perform managerial duties, which include recruiting, training, coaching, and supervising associates. The role requires a proactive approach to driving store sales and controlling expenses, including managing cash handling procedures and authorizing register functions. The Front End Supervisor will collaborate with the store leadership team on merchandising and recovery efforts, while also adhering to all company policies and procedures. This position is not just about managing tasks; it’s about inspiring the team to achieve key metrics such as sales, customer satisfaction scores, and expense control. The Front End Supervisor must be adaptable, able to handle multiple responsibilities, and maintain composure under pressure, all while fostering a positive and energetic work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures all associates and managers are Wowing the Customer through personal contact with customers.
  • Trains the Wow Crew on the B.E.S.T. customer service experience; ensuring that each guest has a fast, friendly check out experience.
  • Responsible to lead their assigned store to achieve and maintain customer service score goals provided by the District Manager.
  • Responsible for leading Front-End Operations, ensuring front end merchandising (candy, soda, snacks) are set and meet or exceed brand standards.
  • Ensures that all front-end equipment is in working order and associates are trained to include services where applicable.
  • Leads the Candy Ordering Process in their assigned store; is responsible for maintaining the appropriate level of inventory to ensure candy is in stock.
  • Responsible for opening and closing procedures, maintaining the store cleanliness, recovery, and keeping their store ready for customers at all times.
  • Responsible for performing store manager duties in their absence.
  • Partners with the assistant store manager to recruit, train, coach, develop and supervise all associates.
  • Assists in scheduling to ensure the store staffing levels meet or exceed expectations.
  • Reviews all corporate communications and reacts accordingly.
  • Partners with supervisors or corporate office regarding store issues.
  • Drives store sales and controls expenses to include all Five Below services (ear piercing, balloons, etc.).
  • Uses financial reporting to drive business opportunities and assists with the entire payroll process to ensure the labor budget is in line with plan.
  • Responsible for cash handling procedures including but not limited to preparing and dropping bank deposits.
  • Authorizes register functions including post voids, returns, and discounts.
  • Partners with the entire store leadership team in merchandising procedures and World Recovery.
  • Adheres to and holds associates accountable to all Five Below's Standard Operating Procedures and Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Accountable for driving Key Metrics: Sales, ADS, CSAT Scores, and Expense Control.
  • Performs store maintenance including but not limited to taking out garbage, sweeping, cleaning bathrooms, maintaining stock room.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of management experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Creative thinking.
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure.

Nice-to-haves

  • College experience preferred.
