About the position

SAIC is seeking a Web Designer Level 3 to support our NGA IC customer in Springfield, VA. The contractor will provide support to the User Experience (UX) and Enterprise Web Services (TEGU) by applying extensive knowledge of various sciences, including Computer Science and Programming, as well as APIs or web service technologies such as REST APIs, SOAP, and XML. The role requires proficiency in browser-based technologies and libraries, including AJAX, jQuery, Angular, Handlebars, Bootstrap, or similar design and HTML templating frameworks. The primary duties of this position include conducting design evaluations for NGA's web enterprises to enhance user experience through effective web designs. The Web Designer will collaborate with UI/UX Research and Development teams to evaluate ideas and concepts, assist in making critical decisions affecting user experience, and incorporate various stages of design into the UX process. Responsibilities also include creating and implementing Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), HTML5 markup language, and other markup languages as needed to support design implementation. Additionally, the designer will create detailed wireframes for complex web and mobile applications, partner with internal and external teams to conceptualize, design, and prototype excellent user experiences while maintaining functionality and simple workflows. The role involves researching and implementing modern web technologies to create innovative user interfaces and improve workflow efficiency. The designer will also create visual concepts using JavaScript and other browser-based technologies, build efficient and reusable resource and guidance libraries for future design use, and create internal design web products to facilitate digital transformation. Furthermore, the designer will ensure that all products and services adhere to design and brand guidelines, translate appropriate architecture and technical solutions into design web products, and demonstrate visual expertise by gathering raw data from various sources to develop comprehensive and visually engaging designs. Consulting with clients to define strategies for expanding and enhancing the website in both content scope and technical features is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • Certificate and/or bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience in the field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in web design.
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing web design software (e.g., Adobe Master Collection CS6/Adobe Creative Cloud, Sketch, InVision Studio).
  • Experience designing products for front-end development and web applications (e.g., wireframes, low and high-fidelity mock-ups, or click-through prototypes).
  • Experience applying best practices for web accessibility, usability, and technical implementation with usability tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, InVision, Axure, Framer, AdobeXD).

  • Demonstrated experience managing strategy or transformation engagements for Federal and commercial customers.
  • Experience in Agile Software Development methodologies.
  • Experience researching, understanding, and implementing best practices for web accessibility and usability.
