About the position

Modis Greensboro is seeking a Front End Developer to join our North Carolina team in the Triad area. As a Front End Web Developer, you will be responsible for bringing digital campaigns to life across various devices. Your role will involve creating well-organized, robust code with a focus on maintainability and portability, while leveraging your deep understanding of the latest technologies to enhance the agency's creative output. You will also be tasked with identifying and correcting bugs and bottlenecks in both new and existing projects. In this evolving landscape of advertising creative teams, technology plays a crucial role alongside art directors, writers, user experience designers, and others. We are looking for a creatively minded developer who possesses strong skills and a passion for executing innovative ideas. Experience in an agency environment, particularly in an integrated setting that encompasses all types of media, both online and offline, is highly valued. A significant focus will be on social media content and applications, so familiarity with Facebook applications and other social media API-driven sites is preferred. Additionally, mobile experience is a requirement for this position.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain front-end web applications for digital campaigns.
• Create well-organized and robust code with a focus on maintainability and portability.
• Identify and correct bugs and bottlenecks in new and existing projects.
• Collaborate with creative teams including art directors, writers, and user experience designers.
• Leverage emerging technologies like HTML5 and CSS3 to enhance web applications.
• Convert PSDs into static templates for web development.
• Utilize CSS preprocessors to speed up development processes.
• Implement responsive/adaptive design for various devices, including mobile-only experiences.
• Develop native or hybrid mobile applications as needed.
• Work with social technology APIs, primarily Facebook, and others like Twitter and Instagram.
• Create and consume JSON-based APIs for application functionality.

Requirements

• Agency or startup experience, or experience in a creatively charged, collaborative environment.
• Strong HTML and CSS skills, with knowledge of HTML5 and CSS3.
• Experience using a CSS preprocessor (LESS, SCSS/Compass, etc.).
• Ability to convert PSDs into static templates.
• Thorough understanding of JavaScript and the DOM without relying on libraries.
• Expertise in at least one JavaScript library (jQuery, Underscore, Zepto, etc.).
• Knowledge of web standards and page-weight optimization.
• Familiarity with client-side MVC frameworks (Ember, Angular, Backbone).
• Experience with responsive/adaptive design and mobile-only experiences.
• Experience developing native or hybrid mobile applications is preferred.
• Familiarity with at least one popular CMS (WordPress, ExpressionEngine, etc.).
• Knowledge of at least one server-side MVC framework (Laravel, Ruby on Rails, Django, CakePHP).
• Experience with social technology APIs (Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, Instagram).
• Familiarity with source control systems (Subversion, Git).
• Understanding of software design patterns and testing methodologies is a plus.
