About the position

The Front of House Manager is responsible for overseeing all front-of-house operations in a vibrant and fast-paced family restaurant group. This role focuses on ensuring seamless service and creating a warm, welcoming environment for guests. The ideal candidate will lead and inspire the front-of-house team, maintaining high service standards and a commitment to excellence in hospitality.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, and manage the front-of-house team, ensuring excellent service standards at all times.
  • Maintain a polished, professional appearance and a positive, engaging attitude.
  • Ensure staff is punctual, well-groomed, and prepared to serve guests with enthusiasm and professionalism.
  • Oversee daily operations, including reservations, seating arrangements, and service flow to ensure an exceptional guest experience.
  • Develop and maintain strong knowledge of the menu, wines, and overall restaurant offerings to assist guests with questions or recommendations.
  • Manage guest relations, addressing concerns or complaints promptly and effectively to ensure complete guest satisfaction.
  • Work closely with the kitchen and bar staff to ensure smooth coordination and communication between departments.
  • Implement and uphold service protocols, maintaining a high standard of service quality and timeliness.
  • Display flexibility and adaptability in handling various situations, from high-volume service to special events, adjusting plans as needed.
  • Monitor inventory levels of front-of-house supplies and place orders when necessary.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings and training to improve service standards and ensure the team remains motivated and focused.
  • Enforce health and safety regulations, ensuring the front-of-house area is clean, safe, and orderly at all times.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Front of House Manager or similar role in a high-volume restaurant.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and train staff.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills; punctuality and reliability are a must.
  • A deep 'working' knowledge of restaurant operations and a passion for the hospitality industry.
  • Ability to maintain a polished, professional appearance while under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a genuine eagerness to serve guests.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing situations and environments, with a calm demeanor in high-pressure situations.
  • Knowledge of POS systems and restaurant management software is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Excel, Word, and Canva.
  • Typing skills are commonly used.
