About the position

The Front Office Clerk Float position at Legacy Community Health is a vital role within our healthcare organization, serving as the first point of contact for patients either over the phone or in person at our clinics. This position is essential in creating a positive first impression of our services, which can significantly influence the long-term patient-provider relationship. As a Front Office Clerk, you will be responsible for managing a variety of administrative tasks while ensuring that patients feel welcomed and supported during their visits. In this role, you will be expected to handle multiple incoming calls and assist patients efficiently, demonstrating a pleasant and professional demeanor at all times. You will also be responsible for accurate data entry, managing patient records, and performing basic filing tasks. The ability to multi-task is crucial, as you will often be required to juggle several responsibilities simultaneously. Your bilingual skills in English and Spanish will be particularly valuable in communicating effectively with our diverse patient population. The ideal candidate will possess strong computer literacy, including experience with multi-line phone systems, and will be able to learn quickly if they do not have prior experience. Basic math skills and familiarity with alphabetical or numerical filing systems are also important for this position. This is a full-time role, and you will be expected to float between various clinics in the West Houston area, which may require travel and participation in a mileage reimbursement program.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Answer incoming calls and manage multiple phone lines effectively.
  • Perform accurate data entry and maintain patient records.
  • Assist patients with scheduling appointments and answering inquiries.
  • Handle filing tasks, including alphabetical and numerical filing.
  • Provide support to other clinic staff as needed.
  • Float between various clinics in the designated area codes.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
  • Pleasant, professional, and articulate phone voice.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle many incoming calls or patients at once.
  • Efficient and accurate data-entry skills.
  • Computer literacy and experience with multi-line phone systems.
