About the position

R+W America is the US headquarters for a German manufacturer of precision components for automation and industrial applications. The company has recently expanded into a new modern office and production facility in West Chicago and is seeking a Front Office Clerk/Receptionist to manage the front desk and assist with various organizational tasks. This role is crucial in maintaining a friendly and professional atmosphere, as it serves as the first point of contact for customers and suppliers. The Front Office Clerk/Receptionist will be responsible for general office administration, ensuring that customers and suppliers have a positive experience with R+W. The office is designed to reflect the quality and professionalism of the organization, and this role is essential in keeping operations running smoothly. Daily tasks will include a mix of data entry, administrative assistance, and hospitality. Although the office does not typically experience a high volume of in-person traffic, the receptionist will be responsible for greeting visitors and assisting them as needed. In this position, the individual will handle various responsibilities such as invoicing customers, processing and distributing mail, managing bank deposits, ordering office supplies, routing phone calls, and assisting with travel arrangements for guests. The role also includes managing catering orders, maintaining the break room, and supporting other departments as required. The ideal candidate will be a quick learner, able to multitask, and possess a positive attitude, ensuring a welcoming environment for all.

Responsibilities

  • Invoice customers.
  • Process and distribute incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Take care of bank deposits.
  • Order office supplies.
  • Route incoming customer phone calls when zero is dialed.
  • Assist with booking hotels/transportation for guests from out of town.
  • Handle catering orders (free company lunch every Friday).
  • Interface with service provider to ensure break room snacks are supplied.
  • Load and empty break room dishwasher.
  • Set up coffee maker in the office common area.
  • Water office plants.
  • Pick up various supplies (i.e., groceries, office supplies, etc.) when needed.
  • Assist other departments as needed.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to type >40 words per minute.
  • Familiarity with working in an office environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Customer service experience (1 year preferred).
