About the position

The Front Office Manager/Assistant General Manager is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the front office and reservations at a hotel in Virginia Beach. This position ensures that guest services exceed expectations, manages staff, and maintains compliance with policies and standards. The role involves hiring, training, scheduling, and monitoring the performance of front desk and guest service agents, while also handling financial reports and guest interactions to create a positive experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the daily operations of front office/reservations to ensure services exceed expectations.
  • Ensure all shifts are covered in Breakfast and the Front Desk, filling in where needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Monitor productivity and quality of work for Guest Service Agents and Reservations.
  • Determine and assign work projects and priorities based on occupancy and future reservations.
  • Ensure all quality standards are met.
  • Hire staff to ensure all areas of responsibility are covered within budget.
  • Conduct orientation training for new associates on company policies.
  • Assign duties to associates and inspect work for conformance to standards.
  • Prepare schedules for the department and forward to senior management for approval.
  • Inventory stock to ensure adequate supplies.
  • Investigate complaints and take corrective action.
  • Prepare reports concerning room occupancy, payroll expenses, and department expenses.
  • Prepare bank deposits, change orders, and cash inventory.
  • Prepare invoices for payment for all hotel departments.
  • Greet and interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Possess full knowledge of proper techniques as established by hotel/franchise requirements.
  • Interact with fellow associates courteously and professionally.
  • Ensure guest requests are satisfied in a timely manner.
  • Provide service in a highly professional manner at all times.
  • Complete associate safety training in compliance with franchise procedures.
  • Review internal management reports including occupancy forecasts and payroll reports.
  • Generate department purchase orders and forward to senior management for approval.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and check on special project work.
  • Participate in the formation of department annual operating budgets.
  • Ensure hotel maintains standards defined by third-party affiliations.
  • Perform month-end inventories accurately and timely.
  • Ensure all department employees receive comprehensive training as specified by the Operating Business Plan.
  • Enforce staff compliance with uniform and grooming standards.
  • Report unsafe work conditions and safety/security violations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2-3 years of hotel experience, preferably in a supervisory role.
  • Experience in financial report interpretation.
  • Experience in front desk operations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience as a Front Desk Clerk or equivalent role.
  • Ability to relocate to Virginia Beach, VA.
