About the position

Sovah Health is looking for the ideal candidate who will be the first line of contact for a patient in the medical office. This position serves as the liaison between the physician and the patients. Information is gathered from the patient and entered into the computer system to create an encounter record. The role is responsible for upfront collections and delivers customer service support to staff, patients, families, and visitors. Responsibilities include greeting patients and visitors, registering patients, verifying patient information, explaining and obtaining necessary signatures, answering, screening, and routing telephone calls on a multi-line phone system, communicating with the answering service, ensuring reminder phone calls are done daily, collecting patient co-payments, deductibles, and payments, assisting patients with account balances and questions, reconciling cash/payment drawer for daily bank deposits, following through on MD orders by providing work excuses, obtaining medical records, and assembling and maintaining patient records and charts.

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients and visitors.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • One (1) year of experience with office functions or customer service preferred.
  • Two (2) years of Medical Office experience preferred.
