About the position

We are seeking a talented and critical thinking Frontend Engineer to join our team in El Segundo, CA. This full-time position is designed for an individual who is proficient in developing modern Single Page Applications (SPAs) using React, as well as traditional web applications utilizing JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. The ideal candidate will thrive in a hybrid work environment, where team members are expected to come into the office twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. In this role, you will work on two distinct web applications. The first application is built using React, Tailwind, and MUI, along with GraphQL (Apollo.js) for data management. The second application is a more traditional setup utilizing Vanilla JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, and CSS. You will be part of a small scrum team, where your collaboration and participation will have a significant impact on the development process. You will engage in our agile process, which includes two-week sprints and regular meetings such as stand-ups on Slack, planning sessions, and retrospectives. As part of your responsibilities, you will be expected to update the status of Jira tickets, size tasks, and track time effectively. Close collaboration with designers and other frontend developers is essential to ensure the successful delivery of projects. Additionally, maintaining security best practices for web applications, such as those outlined by OWASP, will be a critical aspect of your role.

Responsibilities

• Develop modern SPA web applications using React and traditional web applications using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Collaborate as part of a small scrum team, contributing to impactful discussions and decisions.
• Participate in the agile process, including two-week sprints and regular meetings such as stand-ups and retrospectives.
• Update the status of Jira tickets, size tasks, and track time effectively.
• Work closely with designers and frontend developers to ensure cohesive project delivery.
• Maintain security best practices for web applications, adhering to OWASP guidelines.

Requirements

• Proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Experience with React and Next.js (preferred).
• Strong understanding of ES6, jQuery, HTML, and CSS.
• Familiarity with styling frameworks such as Tailwind and Material UI.
• Knowledge of functional components and hooks in React.
• Experience with component organization and structure, as well as state management.
• Ability to perform unit testing and understand networking concepts.
• Experience with REST APIs and preferably exposure to GraphQL.
• Familiarity with version control systems like Git and CI/CD processes using GitHub Actions.
• Interest in learning AWS CDK.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Next.js is a plus.
• Exposure to GraphQL is preferred.
