About the position

The Lead Clerk for Frozen Foods is responsible for creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service while managing the daily operations of the Frozen Foods department. This role involves achieving sales and profit goals, ensuring quality assurance standards, and supervising all functions and activities within the department. The Lead Clerk will also promote teamwork, train associates, and maintain a safe and clean environment to encourage customer return.

Responsibilities

  • Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service.
  • Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Achieve sales and profit goals for the department.
  • Monitor and control quality assurance standards.
  • Direct and supervise all functions and activities for the department.
  • Support day-to-day operations of Frozen Foods.
  • Embrace the Customer 1st strategy and encourage excellent customer service.
  • Communicate company, department, and job-specific information to associates.
  • Collaborate with associates to promote teamwork and achieve goals.
  • Establish performance goals for the department and empower associates to meet targets.
  • Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume.
  • Train and develop associates on their job performance.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
  • Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and appreciated.
  • Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold in the department.
  • Display a positive attitude and develop a department business plan.
  • Create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management.
  • Assist in preparing the store/department budget and profit/loss reviews.
  • Maintain awareness of inventory and stocking conditions.
  • Schedule price changes and update promotional signs.
  • Plan, organize, and supervise the inventory process.
  • Train associates on inventory/stocking and Computer Assisted Ordering.
  • Adhere to food safety regulations and report safety risks.

Requirements

  • Effective communication skills.
  • Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school education or equivalent preferred.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • Retail experience preferred.
  • Second language (speaking, reading and/or writing).
