About the position

Foster Farms has been serving families since 1939, committed to providing consumers with the highest-quality, best-tasting poultry products available. The FSQA Supervisor works under FSQA management guidance to ensure compliance with Foster Farms, FSIS/USDA, and customer requirements. This role oversees and administers the Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) programs and directly supervises and guides hourly FSQA team members at the processing plant. The supervisor is responsible for assessing and problem-solving food safety and quality issues within the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Hire, supervise, and train hourly FSQA technicians in monitoring, verifying, and validating food safety programs such as HACCP, SSOP, and pre-requisites.
  • Monitor data and address processing, sanitation, and maintenance related issues in a timely manner.
  • Communicate non-conformances (product quality or regulatory) to FSQA and operations management in a timely manner.
  • Place non-conforming product on FSQA hold if it does not meet Foster Farms standards, customer expectations or legal requirements.
  • Interface with USDA/FSIS personnel for regulatory non-compliance resolution and information requests.
  • Assist operations management in training new production employees on GMPs, food safety requirements, and quality criteria.
  • Develop and maintain current FSQA programs and adjust programs to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
  • Maintain FSQA data reporting systems, communicating trends and root-cause analysis to management for deficiency resolution and process improvement.
  • Participate in projects (FSQA or operations) to modify, retrofit and improve performance from a food safety and/or quality perspective.

Requirements

  • BS Degree preferred (preferably Food Science, Meat/Animal Science, or related science field).
  • Previous exposure to food processing, food safety, and/or quality programs is preferred.
  • Previous experience with HACCP, SSOP programs, and/or FSIS food safety regulations is preferred.
  • Detail oriented with analytical aptitude; exposure to Statistical Process Control is beneficial.
  • Strong writing and presentation skills.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is of benefit, dependent on local, hourly staff.
  • Ability to make product disposition decisions independently and under the direction of FSQA management.
  • Ability to render sound judgment regarding food safety risks and/or product quality defects.
  • Ability to coach and develop hourly employees, former supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Ability to travel for limited business-related visits (other plants) or conferences.

Benefits

  • Pay Range: $68,640 to $79,885 per year.
