About the position

The FT Assistant Deli Sales Manager is responsible for assisting in the management of deli department operations to achieve financial and sales goals. This role emphasizes building strong relationships with associates and customers while promoting a positive workplace culture aligned with Hannaford's strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing department operations in accordance with established standard practices.
  • Role model outstanding customer service and provide solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Support sales growth through effective merchandising strategies.
  • Assist in hiring, training, and developing associates to meet department needs.
  • Manage performance through planning, coaching, and disciplinary efforts.
  • Ensure department conditions regarding appearance, quality, variety, safety, and food safety are maintained at the highest level.
  • Maintain effective work schedules to meet production and customer service standards.
  • Recognize associates who deliver great service and coach them to meet expectations when necessary.
  • Utilize company tools such as financial reports, scheduling, and business information systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of production, shrink, sales, and inventory.
  • Communicate department and company policies to associates.
  • Perform various department functions as needed to meet production and customer service guidelines.
  • Assist in special projects.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong understanding of store operations and merchandising techniques preferred.
  • Effective communication, customer service, and selling skills.
  • Interpersonal and organizational skills with a desire to lead and manage a team.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Must meet minimum age requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • In the absence of the department manager, manage department operations.
  • Assist in growing sales through effective merchandising strategies.
  • Meet volume activity standards established for the department.
