About the position

The FT Assistant Meat Market Sales Manager at Hannaford is responsible for overseeing the operations of the meat department in the absence of the department manager. This role involves ensuring compliance with company standards, maintaining product quality, and providing excellent customer service. The position requires strong leadership skills, effective communication, and a commitment to safety and sanitation standards.

Responsibilities

  • Observe and follow all company policies and established standard practices.
  • Manage the department operations in accordance with established department standard practices in the absence of the department manager.
  • Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance at all times and comply with the company's personal appearance policy.
  • Actively recognize associates who deliver great service and coach associates to expectations when necessary.
  • Understand and use company tools such as financial reports, scheduling, productivity, ordering, and business information systems.
  • Maintain solid communication in the department, with the store manager, and throughout the organization.
  • Maintain merchandising techniques and layouts consistent with company standards.
  • Maintain department compliance with pricing and coding policy.
  • Work within the company's management planning (MPP) guidelines to maintain productivity.
  • Support company safety standards and communicate any needed equipment repairs or maintenance work needed.
  • Develop product knowledge in all areas of the meat department, including product preparation.
  • Ensure the proper training of all meat associates.
  • Ensure and maintain company sanitation and food safety standards.
  • Maintain the quality of the department's appearance and presentation.
  • Treat all associates with fairness, dignity, and respect, providing recognition of accomplishments and feedback when necessary.
  • Perform all special projects and duties as assigned.

  • Use good judgment in the delegation, assignment, and follow up required for efficient performance of the department.
  • Maintain effectiveness of department's staffing, scheduling, and financial results.
  • Perform meat cutter functions.
  • Wash, rinse, and sanitize equipment as outlined by company practices.
  • Supervise performance of all duties and responsibilities of meat associates.
