About the position

The Front End Associate and Stocker at Specs Family Partners Ltd is responsible for providing exceptional customer service during checkout and ensuring a pleasant shopping experience for guests. This role involves operating cash registers, maintaining a clean work area, stocking shelves, and assisting with various tasks to support the store's operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the company's mission and values while effectively managing time and stress in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests with a smiling face and helpful demeanor.
  • Operate cash register or electronic scanner and look up products as needed.
  • Ensure proper pricing by scanning the correct barcode.
  • Suggestively sell items to guests at the register and offer add-on items.
  • Monitor merchandise brought to the register by stockers to ensure accurate charges.
  • Redeem coupons and weigh produce items when required.
  • Receive cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, or gift cards.
  • Issue receipts and any change due.
  • Bag or box merchandise appropriately.
  • Assist with carry-outs when needed.
  • Compute and record totals of all transactions on daily record sheet.
  • Keep work area clean and neat and do not overstock counter with merchandise.
  • Count down drawer at end of shift and prepare final drop.
  • Answer questions and provide information to guests.
  • Resolve guest complaints with courtesy and respect.
  • Stock shelves and check price tags as needed.
  • Prepare assigned areas for inventory and assist in the inventory process if needed.
  • Carry out directives of management efficiently.
  • Practice teamwork and cooperation with others.
  • Possess time management skills and be able to prioritize tasks.
  • Manage stress in a fast-paced environment.
  • Stand for most of shift, bend and walk occasionally, and lift/move up to 50 pounds using proper techniques.
  • Work in accordance with all safety regulations of Specs Family Partners and OSHA.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Cashier experience preferred but not required.
  • Valid TABC Beverage Sellers Permit and Food Handlers Permit required.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions or memos.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in whole numbers and fractions/decimals.
