About the position
The Instructor, English position at Stanly Community College is responsible for providing quality learning experiences in English education. This role involves facilitating and evaluating the learning process, mentoring students, and contributing to curriculum development. The instructor will teach a range of courses, maintain professional communication with students, and participate in professional development opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Teach all assigned courses, ranging from 18 to 22 contact hours per semester.
- Evaluate student progress and provide timely feedback.
- Maintain regular professional communication with students.
- Incorporate instructional technology to enhance student learning.
- Develop and distribute course syllabi according to established guidelines.
- Maintain appropriate accessibility for students, including a minimum of five office hours per week.
- Serve as an educational mentor to assigned students.
- Prepare and submit instructional records, reports, and grades in a timely manner.
- Participate in semester advising and registration activities as needed.
- Assist in recruitment and retention efforts of the College.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in English or a master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in English.
- One year of teaching experience.
