About the position

Wellstar Cobb in Austell, Georgia is seeking a Full-Time Night Registered Sonographer to provide safe, age-appropriate care to patients by performing diagnostic ultrasound exams. The role requires flexibility in work hours and the ability to work independently while ensuring high-quality imaging services. The position involves patient care, quality control, and operational responsibilities, with a focus on effective communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Verifies proper clinician order for procedure.
  • Obtains complete clinical history and assesses for contraindicating conditions.
  • Ensures proper patient identification and marker usage during exams.
  • Reviews ultrasound images for clinically acceptable results and releases patients.
  • Responds to emergency situations and maintains life support equipment.
  • Assists other technologists in all modalities when needed.
  • Observes patient condition and evaluates situations for physician intervention.
  • Prepares patients for procedures and demonstrates sterile technique.
  • Explains the purpose and nature of exams to patients to minimize anxiety.
  • Participates in the orientation and training of departmental employees.
  • Ensures equipment is operational and performs quality control checks.
  • Restocks linens and supplies, maintaining a clean department.
  • Transports and positions patients for procedures.
  • Maintains individual productivity rate and keeps supervisor informed of responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Sonography Program.
  • Registered Medical Sonographer or ARRT Sonography certification required upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association required.
  • Minimum 1 year clinical experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills for interaction with patients and staff.
  • Ability to function independently and under pressure in a team environment.
  • Detail-oriented with the capacity to multitask effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Additional certifications in ultrasound specialties.
