About the position

The Produce Sales Manager at Food Lion is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Produce Department, ensuring that financial and sales goals are met while promoting a positive shopping experience for customers. This role involves managing staff, maintaining department standards, and fostering a culture of customer service and teamwork within the store.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Produce Department, including hiring, training, and developing department associates.
• Supervise the performance of all duties and responsibilities of department associates and provide ongoing performance management.
• Daily management of labor and coaching associates to achieve productivity expectations.
• Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of Food Lion's Guiding Principles and Core Values.
• Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results.
• Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with emphasis on friendly customer service.
• Control store expenses through proper ordering and care for supplies and equipment.
• Ensure department appearance, quality, variety, workplace safety, food safety, and sanitation are maintained.
• Monitor shrink and provide coaching for associates to recognize and prevent losses.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
• Good understanding of store operations preferred.
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
• Ability to lead and direct others.
• Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.

Nice-to-haves

• Accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or similar organization as a Certified Food Safety Manager.
