About the position

The Program Head, Electronics/Mechatronics Engineering Technology is responsible for the leadership and daily operations of the program, ensuring quality educational experiences for students. This role involves teaching, curriculum development, faculty supervision, and community engagement, with a focus on maintaining a safe and effective learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Teach program material via seated and online classes as required by the schedule.
  • Facilitate regular and substantive interaction with students through proactive communication.
  • Participate in recruiting new students for the program.
  • Ensure classrooms, labs, and lab equipment are in good repair and maintain a safe environment.
  • Serve as a mentor to students in the area of expertise.
  • Represent the program within the College and community as the primary point of contact.
  • Provide supervision to other faculty teaching within the program.
  • Coordinate advisory boards, program updates, offerings, and scheduling of courses.
  • Recruit, interview, and recommend the appointment of faculty to the Dean and/or Associate Vice President.
  • Prepare a master schedule of course offerings each semester that meets departmental needs.
  • Supervise and evaluate the operation of all classes and departmental faculty in accordance with policy.
  • Facilitate the selection of textbooks and submission of the Textbook Order Form.
  • Manage and resolve any conflict within the Electronics and Mechatronics Engineering Technology Department.
  • Review, evaluate, and assess departmental goals and annual plans, student learning outcomes, and course offerings periodically.
  • Ensure each departmental program is in compliance with accreditation and certification requirements.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with community and industry organizations.
  • Manage the departmental budget and monitor expenditures.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Electronics Engineering Related Technology or closely related field.
  • Demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline.
  • Three years' related experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering related field.
  • 5 years related experience.
  • Teaching experience.
