About the position

The Youth Career Coach Specialist plays a crucial role in the OhioMeansJobs Department, primarily responsible for determining client eligibility for various programs and services, including employment services and financial assistance. This position involves conducting interviews, managing case files, and collaborating with public and private organizations to ensure clients receive the necessary support to achieve their academic and personal goals.

Responsibilities

• Conduct interactive interviews with applicants to determine initial eligibility for assistance.
• Gather and document personal, financial, and employment information as required by program rules.
• Authorize or deny participation in public assistance programs and services.
• Develop cooperative plans to meet client needs and assist them in utilizing services.
• Provide information and answer questions regarding different programs and services.
• Advise clients on their rights and responsibilities in program participation.
• Facilitate proactive services to identify and address participant goals and skills gaps.
• Establish goals and timelines, identifying service delivery problems and initiating resolutions.
• Provide ongoing case management and oversight, monitoring compliance with participation requirements.
• Document all work activities in case files and maintain related documentation and reports.
• Collaborate with organizations to assure seamless services to participants.
• Recruit participants and maintain equal caseload size.
• Respond to inquiries and provide information for supportive services to customers.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Valid Ohio Driver's license and operable vehicle.
• Knowledge of public relations, office practices, and agency policies.
• Ability to handle sensitive inquiries and maintain accurate records.
• Proficient in English grammar and composition with good communication skills.
• Proficient in typing, word processing, and data processing.
