About the position

The Fuel Accountant is responsible for managing the daily functions of fuel accounting, ensuring accurate processing of fuel deliveries, invoices, and inventory management. This role involves reconciling fuel invoices, maintaining accurate records, and collaborating with the senior fuel accountant to provide timely financial information and forecasts.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily fuel deliveries for all company owned stores.
• Confirm pricing on all fuel inventory invoices before processing them.
• Enter all pipeline receipts and rack purchases into inventory.
• Reconcile and clear all fuel invoices for payment throughout the month.
• Reconcile daily terminal inventory to various reports and our accounting system.
• Review, research, and correct fuel inventory over/shorts periodically throughout the month.
• Work with the senior fuel accountant on updating information on the daily cost sheet.
• Review and adjust the daily dispatch sheets.
• Assist the senior fuel accountant on sending out the weekly flash forecast information.
• Accept, separate and reconcile ethanol RINs using RINSTAR.
• Assemble pipeline batches for review including a cover sheet, invoices, and pipeline tickets.
• Complete monthly journal entries as needed.
• Complete all monthly fuel taxes with the exception of Pennsylvania.
• Complete all assigned monthly fuel account reconciliations.
• Update various tables with current inventory and sales numbers for forecasting purposes.
• Cross train with other members of the fuel team to ensure redundancy.
• Update all processes and procedures as needed.
• Other project, budget and analytical work, as requested.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field preferred but not required.
• Experience with Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R), Billing, General Ledger (G/L), Bank Reconciliation, and Cash Applications.
