About the position

The Fuel Cell Engineer will work on the JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science (JETS) contract at Johnson Space Center, focusing on the development and evaluation of fuel cell systems for Lunar and Martian environments. This role involves designing ground-based tests, enhancing analytical tools for fuel cell performance, and managing project schedules while collaborating with contractors and stakeholders to advance state-of-the-art power generation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and evaluates design requirements for fuel cell systems in Lunar and Martian environments.
  • Designs and develops ground-based tests and support equipment for fuel cell technology.
  • Provides development, validation, and enhancement of analytical and modeling tools for fuel cell performance.
  • Develops statements of work, evaluates proposals, and monitors contractor progress for power generation systems.
  • Proposes and reviews technology projects to evaluate or advance fuel cell applications.
  • Develops and manages detailed project schedules with internal and external milestones.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school plus 2-5 years of experience in the field or related area.
  • Experience in proposing and reviewing technology projects for fuel cell applications.
  • Experience in energy conversion and electrochemistry systems processes and reactions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace, electrical, or chemical engineering with a minimum of five years of engineering experience in Fuel Cells.
  • Experience in all phases of the project lifecycle including requirements and architecture definition.
  • Experience in design, assembly, integration, testing, and operations for fuel cell technologies.
  • Familiarity with NASA JSC Flight Hardware Life Cycle and Engineering processes.
