About the position

The Fuel Center/Dept Leader at Fred Meyer is responsible for managing all aspects of the Fuel Center, focusing on maximizing sales, enhancing margins, controlling expenses, and ensuring compliance with documentation and safety standards. This role involves direct supervision of the Fuel department's functions and supporting day-to-day operations while embodying the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the Fuel Center including maximizing sales and enhancing margin.
  • Control expenses and ensure compliance documentation is maintained.
  • Reduce shrink within the section and oversee all functions, duties, and activities for the Fuel department.
  • Support the day-to-day functions of the Fuel operations.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and respond to customer requests, comments, or complaints.
  • Maintain compliance with corporate and divisional merchandising and operational standards.
  • Perform cashier functions including opening/closing register and ringing sales.
  • Train new Fuel Center associates and order merchandise and supplies for the department.
  • Control department inventory levels and assist in the inventory process.
  • Oversee fuel delivery and documentation of fuel inventory.
  • Monitor customer service skills of kiosk clerks and provide guidance as needed.
  • Verify compliance with safety standards and ensure safety equipment is available and functional.
  • Coach and develop associates on their performance and participate in performance reviews.

Requirements

  • Minimum 6 months of related experience in a similar role.
  • Familiarity with industry/technical terms and processes.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic math skills including counting, addition, and subtraction.
  • Strong attention to detail.
