About the position

This is a ten-week internship opportunity at Amazon, specifically designed for individuals eager to develop their leadership skills in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The internship will take place during the summer of 2025, requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week. Unlike traditional corporate roles, this position is located within one of Amazon's fulfillment centers, sort centers, delivery stations, or other operational buildings. Interns will engage directly with hourly employees, fostering a collaborative leadership style that is essential for success in Amazon's cutting-edge Operations network. As an Area Manager Intern, you will be immersed in the day-to-day operations of a warehouse environment, where you will learn to coach, motivate, and mentor a team of Amazon associates. The internship emphasizes hands-on experience, allowing you to develop your management skills while working on a summer project in partnership with site leadership. Amazon provides extensive training and development resources to help you become an exceptional people leader, preparing you for future roles within the company. The internship is structured to provide a comprehensive understanding of warehouse operations, including managing a team of 50-100 associates, driving standard work practices, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives. Interns will also gain experience in overseeing truck deliveries, handling and sorting packages, and operating equipment as needed. The role requires a willingness to work in a physically demanding environment, with shifts that may include nights, weekends, and holidays based on business needs. Overall, this internship offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in a fast-paced supply chain environment while contributing to Amazon's operational success.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to coach, manage and develop a team of 50-100 Amazon Associates
  • Drive standard work and continuous improvement through an intern project
  • Work independently and operate in an autonomous environment
  • Stand/walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours
  • Oversee truck deliveries, handle and sort packages using pallet jacks, operate PIT equipment (at applicable facilities) and step in as needed
  • Work in an environment where the noise level varies
  • Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend and reach
  • Climb and descend stairs (when applicable)

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program with all requirements anticipated to be completed between December 2025 and August 2026

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program for Supply Chain, Business/Management, Engineering or another related field.
