About the position

We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper/Comptroller to oversee the financial operations and compliance requirements for Bar None Creations. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting skills combined with specific knowledge of bar/restaurant operations and liquor regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily accounting operations including accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance
  • Manage intercompany accounting and consolidations across multiple locations/entities
  • Process payroll and handle related tax filings
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Develop and maintain chart of accounts while implementing proper accounting controls
  • Perform daily POS system reconciliations and cash handling procedures
  • Monitor and manage multiple revenue streams (food, beverage, events)
  • Track and analyze Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)
  • Create and oversee individual bar/restaurant budgets
  • Process and track expense reports
  • Utilize and maintain bar/restaurant inventory management systems
  • Implement liquor cost controls and develop pricing strategies
  • Ensure compliance with liquor licensing requirements
  • Monitor and maintain ABT regulations and reporting requirements
  • Manage beverage inventory tracking and ordering systems
  • Calculate and analyze pour costs and inventory levels
  • Oversee food and garnish inventory management
  • Implement controls to manage shrinkage (theft, breakage, waste)
  • Establish and maintain cash handling procedures specific to bar operations
  • Coordinate employee tax and payroll onboarding/offboarding processes
  • Maintain accurate personnel files and documentation for W2/1099 employees and contractors
  • Handle workers' compensation claims processing
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations
  • Track and maintain TIPS certification records
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with state and federal liquor laws
  • Manage business licensing and permits
  • Prepare and submit required regulatory reports
  • Maintain proper documentation for all liquor-related transactions

Requirements

  • Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks
  • Experience with payroll processing systems
  • Expertise in bar/restaurant POS systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in hospitality/F&B industry
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Demonstrated experience in hospitality or food & beverage industry
  • In-depth knowledge of food and beverage cost control
  • Strong understanding of cash flow management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities
