Freedman & Co., CPA, PC is a boutique certified public accounting firm established in 1991, with offices located in New York City, NY, and Plantation, FL. We pride ourselves on serving a sophisticated clientele, which includes both individuals and commercial entities. Our firm specializes in a wide range of services, including traditional accounting, auditing, attestation services, tax planning and preparation, estate planning, and client-specific consulting. As a Full Charge Bookkeeper, you will play a crucial role in managing our clients' day-to-day financial tasks, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all financial transactions. In this position, you will be responsible for handling both accounts payable and receivable, as well as managing payroll and bank account reconciliations. Your expertise in bookkeeping will be essential in maintaining the financial health of our clients. You will be expected to record daily financial transactions, reconcile various accounts at the end of each month, and monitor financial reports to ensure accuracy. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively with accountants when necessary. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bookkeeping, particularly with experience in using QuickBooks. Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy are paramount, as you will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and understanding financial statements. Your communication skills will also be vital in liaising with clients and providing them with the highest level of service.

Responsibilities

  • Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process.
  • Reconcile sales taxes, payroll taxes, 401k, and bank accounts at the end of each month.
  • Monitor financial transactions and reports.
  • Process accounts receivable and payable.
  • Process checks.
  • Understand ledgers.
  • Work with an accountant when necessary.
  • Handle monthly payroll using accounting software.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or higher in accounting or business administration.
  • Excellent knowledge of general accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping software.
  • At least 3 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably within a business-services environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy of work.
  • Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks.
  • Able to prepare, review and understand a financial statement.
