About the position

The Full Charge Bookkeeper will manage the complete bookkeeping functions for a non-profit organization, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulations. This role involves overseeing accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, and monthly reconciliations, while collaborating with the Finance Director on budgeting and financial performance monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily accounting activities, including general ledger entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end closing.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports, including fund accounting reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations for bank and credit card accounts, as well as review and reconcile grants, donations, and other revenue.
  • Collaborate with the Finance Director on budgeting, forecasting, and monitoring budget-to-actual performance.
  • Maintain accurate tracking of restricted and unrestricted funds, grants, and other sources of income to ensure compliance with funding requirements.
  • Assist with annual audit preparation, including gathering documentation, reconciling accounts, and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with non-profit financial regulations, maintain accurate financial records, and keep organized documentation for audits and reporting.

Requirements

  • 7 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting, preferably in a non-profit setting.
  • Associate's degree in accounting or a related field.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
