About the position

The Full Charge Bookkeeper position at Agostino & Associates is a critical role responsible for managing the billing, bookkeeping, and accounting functions of the firm. This position requires an experienced individual with a strong background in bookkeeping and accounting, particularly within a law firm or professional service environment. The successful candidate will be proficient in using PCLAW, Amicus, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office products, and will be expected to perform a variety of tasks that ensure the financial health and operational efficiency of the firm. In this role, the Full Charge Bookkeeper will oversee all bookkeeping functions, including client billing and accounts receivable. The position involves managing vendor payments and accounts payable, as well as data entry for cash receipts and disbursements. The Bookkeeper will also be responsible for processing credit card transactions, reconciling bank statements, and making bank deposits for both operating and IOLTA accounts. Additionally, the role includes handling payroll, insurance matters, and providing monthly financial reports to the firm owner. Coordination with the firm's accountants for tax return preparation is also a key responsibility. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative and organizational skills, along with excellent interpersonal and communication abilities. A professional appearance and demeanor are essential, as the Bookkeeper will represent the firm in various capacities. This position offers flexibility, with options for part-time or full-time work, and compensation is based on credentials and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform/supervise all law firm bookkeeping functions
  • Perform/assist with client billing functions and other accounts receivable functions
  • Pay vendor bills and manage accounts payable
  • Perform/supervise data entry of cash receipts and client costs in billing and accounting systems
  • Perform/supervise data entry of cash receipts and disbursements for the IOLTA trust account in the accounting systems
  • Process credit card transactions
  • Reconcile bank statements
  • Work up and make bank deposits for the operating and IOLTA accounts
  • Handle payroll
  • Handle Insurance
  • Provide financial reports to the firm owner on a monthly basis
  • Filing
  • Coordination with the firm's accountants, including tax return preparation
  • Management and oversight of the billing and accounting systems

Requirements

  • At least 2+ years bookkeeping experience as a full-charge bookkeeper
  • Successfully completed coursework in bookkeeping/accounting
  • Associate degree in bookkeeping/accounting is desirable
  • Experience with law firm billing or other professional service firm (PCLAW, Amicus)
  • Proficient in accounting software (i.e. PCLAW and QuickBooks)
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Professional appearance and manner
