About the position

The Chief Administrative Officer and Lead Counsel is responsible for overseeing the administrative functions and legal affairs of the Department of Insurance, ensuring compliance with regulations and effective management of resources. This role involves strategic planning, policy development, and providing legal guidance to the department.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the administrative operations of the Department of Insurance.
  • Provide legal counsel and guidance on regulatory compliance and policy matters.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance departmental efficiency.
  • Manage departmental resources and budget effectively.
  • Coordinate with other state agencies and stakeholders on legal and administrative issues.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in North Carolina.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in legal practice, preferably in administrative law or government.
  • Strong understanding of insurance regulations and compliance.
