About the position

The Full-stack Application Development Internship at UNDP offers a unique opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in software development within an international organization. Interns will work closely with the Information and Technology Management (ITM) unit, contributing to projects that have a direct global impact. This role emphasizes the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion, encouraging candidates from marginalized populations to apply. Interns will engage in various tasks, enhancing their technical skills while promoting innovative solutions in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development of applications using jQuery, NodeJS, Python, and C#.
• Support the collection, consolidation, and analysis of data for project tracking and data visualization using Excel, Power BI, and other business intelligence tools.
• Enhance user interfaces of existing applications based on UI/UX best practices and user acceptance testing.
• Participate in the translation of user requirements into user stories.
• Support the development of quality software practicing international coding standards.
• Promote the ITM's overall ICT strategic framework and work plan.

Requirements

• Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme or in the final academic year of a first university degree programme.
• Good knowledge of full-stack software development.
• Experience or knowledge in the field of software development, computer science, or business management is required.
• Proficient user of Microsoft Office productivity tools.
• Knowledge of specific Office 365 tools such as Planner, Teams, and Power BI is an advantage.
• Understanding of DevOps and Continuous Integration is an advantage.
• Good knowledge of Data Science principles and hands-on experience with SQL is an advantage.
• Knowledge of HTML5, CSS, and graphic design is an advantage.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of the non-profit sector is an advantage.
• Ability to translate IT technology to business users in non-technical language is an advantage.
• Interest in customer-oriented service delivery with a focus on innovative enterprise ICT solutions.

• Monthly stipend of USD 1,000 for in-person internships.
• Remote reduced stipend for remote internships based on duty station location.
