About the position

Travelers is seeking a Software Engineer II to join our organization as we grow and transform our Technology landscape. This role involves performing advanced end-to-end engineering tasks, including designing, developing, analyzing, configuring, testing, debugging, troubleshooting, documenting, and implementing solutions based on user or system specifications. The individual will also consult with users to determine functional specifications and manage interactions between systems and technical support areas.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis, design, development, and configuration functions with high accuracy and speed.
  • Analyze, assess, and resolve defects and incidents of advanced complexity.
  • Work independently on well-scoped and loosely scoped problems.
  • Seek opportunities to expand technical knowledge and capabilities.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Two years of programming/development experience.
  • Four years of programming/development experience preferred.
  • Full stack development experience.
  • AWS literacy (Certification preferred).
  • Experience with AWS server-less components (like Lambdas, S3).
  • Knowledge of SQL and database concepts.
  • Proficiency in preferred languages: Python, JavaScript, and React JS.

Nice-to-haves

  • Scrum master experience.
  • Intermediate delivery skills for estimating timelines and delivering work predictably.
  • Demonstrated track record of domain expertise and awareness of industry trends.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on long-term solutions.
  • Intermediate leadership skills to create a safe learning environment.
