About the position

CNA is seeking a Full Stack Developer with a focus on backend development to provide high-level expertise in systems analysis, application development, and integration. This role involves leading and architecting business applications, mentoring staff, and ensuring efficient and cost-effective application solutions to support business needs. The position is based in Chicago, IL, and is open to local candidates only.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate complex client area requirements and processes to design application system specifications.
• Develop, test, and implement efficient application solutions, including issue resolution and ongoing system maintenance.
• Lead the integration of vendor applications and consulting resources with existing applications.
• Act as a technical consultant to programming staff and mentor them in all phases of program development.
• Coordinate activities with client areas and other IT departments.
• Research and evaluate new solutions and recommend efficient systems design.
• Act as a liaison between clients, vendors, and the applications area.
• Support the implementation of applications into production and testing environments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
• Typically a minimum of seven years of systems analysis and application program development experience.
• Solid technical knowledge of high-level programming languages, databases, and application development alternatives.
• In-depth knowledge of the system development life cycle and application program development technologies.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong knowledge of interface design and user-centered design methods.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage projects and lead teams.
• Experience with React, NodeJS, Java, JDK 11 and JDK 17, Spring ecosystem, Kubernetes, and cloud providers (GCP, AWS, Azure).
• Solid SQL/relational database foundation.
