As a software engineer focusing on full-stack development at MITRE, you will provide systems engineering support to various programs related to law enforcement, national intelligence, and government information systems. You will tackle some of the most challenging technical and programmatic issues faced by our federal sponsors located in Stafford, Virginia. Our unique not-for-profit, public interest charter allows us the freedom to explore innovative ideas that others may consider too risky. In this role, you will work closely with project teams in a dynamic environment to develop and deploy state-of-the-art media processing systems that support federal law enforcement investigations. You will assist in transitioning the current removable media evidence storage model of the Sponsor's Video Management and Interview Management Systems to an online, Sponsor-approved system of record. Adaptability to a rapidly evolving technological landscape is essential, as you will need to become comfortable with new technologies and contribute solutions to complex technical challenges. The work location is primarily onsite with the Sponsor in Stafford, VA, although some flexibility for hybrid work arrangements is available.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy state-of-the-art media processing systems to support federal law enforcement investigations.
  • Assist in moving the current removable media evidence storage model of Sponsor's Video Management and Interview Management Systems to an online Sponsor-approved system of record.
  • Adapt to a quickly evolving technological environment and become comfortable with new technologies.
  • Provide input on solutions to challenging technical issues.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years with a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years' experience; or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Experience with client/server C# (or C++) development.
  • Proficiency in asynchronous processing, thread synchronization, XML/JSON serialization.
  • Experience with custom event generation/handling.
  • Active TS Clearance is required.
  • Minimum of 4 days a week on-site is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SQL stored procedure development and invocation.
  • Exposure to image and video processing.
  • Experience with REST endpoint development.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP stack fundamentals.
  • Experience with Wireshark IP packet analysis.
  • Familiarity with WebSockets.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps.
  • Knowledge of encryption/hashing in C#.
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance.
