About the position

GROUPER is an IDIQ (Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity) RDT&E (Research, Development, Test and Evaluation) contract with the United States Space Force. Focus on creating systems to support Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) through the development, test, and deployment of large aperture antenna systems and the mission processing to support those systems. We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Full-Stack Developer to join our team in transitioning from legacy Java applications to modern web-based solutions. Opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology supporting critical Space Force missions. Responsible for working on both the Frontend and Backend of our applications. Contribute to enhancing national security through advanced SIGINT capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Build intuitive, responsive, and efficient user interfaces utilizing AstroUXDS and modern web technologies
  • Ensure usability, compatibility, and accessibility for all operators and users
  • Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services and APIs using Python (Djanjo, Flask, etc.)
  • Ensure the scalability, security, and performance of the backend solutions
  • Define technical requirements, architecture, and best practices for both frontend and backend development

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field from an ABET accredited university
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, preferably in defense, telecommunications, or related industries
  • Proven experience in full-stack development with a strong grasp of both frontend and backend technologies
  • Proficiency with modern frontend technologies and frameworks (HTML5, CSS3, Javascript) / (React, Angular, Vue)
  • Proficiency in Python and relevant frameworks (Djanjo, Flask, etc.)
  • Experience with building and using RESTful APIs, database systems, and SQL
  • Experience implementing web security best practices (authentication, authorization, etc.)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Must have Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Astro Space UX Design System (AstroUXDS) and its implementation
  • Experience with containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Podman, Openshift) and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with legacy application migration or experience working in similar Java transitional projects
  • Experience with large aperture antenna systems, SIGINT processing systems, or satellite communication and scheduling
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers or leading small technical teams
