About the position

The Houston Astros are seeking a Full-Stack Application Developer to join their Software Development team within the Research and Development department. This role is crucial for designing, developing, and maintaining internal applications that support decision-making across Baseball Operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both front-end and back-end development, working closely with various stakeholders to deliver impactful tools that enhance the team's competitive advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications using modern web technologies.
  • Contribute to the improvement and modernization of key legacy applications.
  • Collaborate with the technical product manager, research analysts, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Implement responsive and user-friendly front-end interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks such as React.
  • Develop robust back-end services and APIs using primarily SQL, C#, and Python.
  • Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications through rigorous testing and debugging.
  • Integrate third-party APIs and services to enhance application functionality.
  • Maintain code quality through code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve development processes.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to address any urgent issues with our software systems.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Full-Stack Web Application Developer or similar role.
  • Strong proficiency in front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js.
  • Experience with back-end development using languages such as JavaScript, Python, and C#.
  • Familiarity with database technologies, especially SQL.
  • Knowledge of version control systems, particularly Git.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and DevOps practices.
